Road-test your copy

Want to road-test your copy? Try these links:

Words Count gives you the vital statistics on your copy. It’s more information than you could poke a stick at, so here are the ones to look out for:

  • Sentence length: aim for fewer than 19 words per sentence
  • Syllables per word: aim for fewer than 1.6 syllables per word
  • Fog Reading Level analysis should be as junior as possible (depending on your audience)
  • Don’t worry if you’re too high on the Personal Pronouns score; people are good to have in your copy

The Wewe Calculator from FutureNow tells you how self-centred your copy is. Enter your copy and your company name, and see how customer-centric your writing is.
